The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming our economy and society, bringing both major opportunities and challenges. While AI offers innovative new solutions, it also raises critical questions about protecting users’ rights. From internet-connected voice assistants helping us with our shopping lists to hidden algorithms making decisions about how much to pay for our hotel room, the use of AI has many implications for consumers and affects us all.
What are the implications of AI on consumers’ daily lives? What challenges do they face to ensure their protection in an ever-changing digital environment?
Juha Heikkila, Advisor for International Aspects of Artificial Intelligence at the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission, will provide insights into the European Union's initiatives to ensure the ethical and safe use of AI, including the recent AI Regulation. Then, Dr Felix Pflücke, postdoctoral researcher at the University of Luxembourg, will present the challenges of AI in consumer protection.
The Liaison Office of the European Parliament in Luxembourg, the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg and the European Consumer Centre Luxembourg are pleased to invite you to listen and ask your questions.
The presentation will be in English. Questions can be asked in German, English, French and Luxembourgish. The moderation will be provided by Karin Basenach, Director of the European Consumer Centre Luxembourg.
The organizers will be pleased to offer refreshments to participants.
