If it seems necessary to mention the pianist's venerable age (81 years old at the time of his concert at the Philharmonie), it is to better underline the experience that weighs without showing through in his interpretations. Since his beginnings alongside Ron Carter in particular, without ever departing from a powerful swing, he embodies the tradition of a piano jazz fully entered into the 21st century.
