Algiers, 1990s. Nedjma, aged 18, is a university student who dreams of becoming a fashion designer. At nightfall, she sneaks through the fence of the University with her best friends to go to the nightclub where she sells her creations to the "papichas", beautiful young Algerian girls. The political and social situation in the country continues to deteriorate. Refusing to accept this fate, Nedjma decides to fight for her freedom by organizing a fashion show, thus defying all prohibitions.
