The geological diversity of Luxembourg has led to an old and varied extractive activity. The quarries have locally shaped the landscape, and the extracted materials have left their mark on the appearance of towns and villages, as well as on the country's economy. This conference presents the relationship between the geology of the subsoil and the various materials that were extracted, or are still being extracted today, as well as the specific technical aspects of the extractive activity.
