In fact, Claudio simply wanted to meet friends to work on the central idea of their newly founded party: bringing democracy back to its roots and electing the next Prime Minister by lottery. Due to an unintended detour, he ends up at the opposite, where a university professor discusses Victor Hugo’s avid sexual activity during his stay in Veianer, suggesting an heir might exist in Luxembourg's genetic pool. While the first lottery-elected Prime Minister is regrettably a clumsy populist, Claudio and the professor search for who might unknowingly be the great literary genius Luxembourg is missing - a search that intersects with Claudio's immigrant family history. "Ondugen" is a partially surreal, partially melancholic satire that not only sabotages the image of the national poet but also questions democracy's place in a world that tramples on humanist values.
