In fact, Claudio just wanted to meet with friends to work on the central idea of their newly founded party: Democracy must return to its roots, and the next Prime Minister should be elected by lottery. Due to an involuntary detour, he ends up at Vis-à-Vis, where a university professor discusses Victor Hugo's intense sexual activity during his stay in Vianden, believing there is a genetic heir in Luxembourg's gene pool. As the first lottery-elected Prime Minister turns out to be a stubborn populist, Claudio joins the professor in the search for someone who might unknowingly be the great literary genius missing from Luxembourg's cultural scene - a quest that intersects with Claudio's family migratory history. "Ondugen" is a partly surreal, partly melancholic satire that not only undermines the image of the national poet but also questions the place of democracy in a world that tramples humanist values.
