For her first appearance at Théâtres de la Ville, Oona Doherty presents a double bill featuring two of her most important works: the solo, Hope Hunt and the Ascension into Lazarus, which acclaimed her as a rising star in contemporary dance, and Navy Blue, an ensemble piece and her biggest production to date. The opening of the solo act, tackling working-class masculinity, takes place on the front square of the Grand Théâtre and continues in the Studio. After this, the immense Navy Blue commences, an ode to the brutality and insignificance of life, questioning society, personal accountability, and art, accompanied by Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Concerto and the dark soundtrack by Jamie xx.
