Martine Dahm, also known as MaDam, was born in Luxembourg in 1977 and always dreamed of becoming an artist. However, because her parents and teachers believed she needed to "learn a decent trade," she studied architecture and has been working in this field since 2001. She is married, a mother of two, and has lived in Hoesdorf, Luxembourg since 2004. In her free time, she enjoys making music and engaging in creative activities, walks, and cycling.
Under her artist name MaDam, she fulfilled one of her greatest dreams in 2021 with her first exhibition "Colored Impressions of the Tree." The inspiration for this exhibition came during walks with her children through the forest: she attempted to capture the diversity of trees on her canvases, blending reality and abstraction. Her paintings reflect a certain influence of Impressionism, which has long been her most popular artistic movement. After trees, which remain a constant presence, she explored other subjects: trees are replaced by buildings and her current canvases display impressions of different travels, another passion that will shape Martine's life. In recent paintings, MaDam tries to express different emotions in an abstract way and deals with the forces of nature.
MaDam has also ventured into creating epoxy resin pendants: some display her paintings in miniature, others blend color with dried flowers and other natural materials.
Monique Dahm, also known as TiMn, was born in Luxembourg in 1980 and has been interested in art in the broadest sense since childhood: she drew, crafted, danced, made music, and creativity was present in her childhood play.
After a "classic artistic beginning," she followed the path she had in mind since her youth: becoming a primary school teacher. But art, in all its facets, has always accompanied her. Even though music took up more space during certain years, Monique returned to her roots, to what she did as a child, during a period of illness and a forced break from daily life: she drew and crafted with whatever she had at hand. Art was like therapy.
And then, she never gave up creating, until together with her sister, she had the idea of organizing an exhibition to share the stories her works tell. In fact, the two sisters played "exhibition" as children and organized drawing contests with numerous imaginary children participating. Why TiMn? As Monique Tintinago-Dahm, she realized while looking for a signature for her works that her husband's family name combined with her first name formed an interesting word: "el timón," a rudder. For Monique, art was such a guiding paddle, and she hopes others can be led onto beautiful paths by her creations, finding their own interpretation.
