During this evening, the trio composed of Caroline Reuter (violin), Nora Braun (cello), and Stefanie Duprel (piano) will take you on a journey through time and different atmospheres, from the court of Louis XV to World War I. The works presented are exclusively compositions by French authors.
"D’un matin de printemps” by Lili Boulanger (1893-1918) was initially written as a duo for violin and piano. In 1917, the composer adapted it as a trio for violin, cello, and piano, and created an orchestral version in 1918. Also dating from 1918, "D’un soir triste" immerses the listener in a world of lament and sorrow.
The sonata in D major op.5 no.8 by Jean-Marie Leclair (1697-1764) dating from 1734, is taken from the third book of sonatas for violin and continuo and is dedicated to Louis XV. The Romances by Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) and Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921) as well as "Papillon" by Fauré are pieces for cello and piano characterized by their charm and elegance.
