BMAD, aka Boogie Music Against Depression (or Blues Makes A Difference), was created in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic as a duo, with the intention of having fun and protecting themselves from depression. In 2023, BMAD became a trio, with Christian Ries on piano and vocals, Paulo Simões on guitar, and Rob Schauls on drums. BMAD delights audiences with a captivating mix of boogie-woogie, blues, and timeless jazz classics, along with their original compositions. Their distinctive sound is marked by influences from esteemed musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Eddie Boyd, Jimmie Bell, Leroy Carr, John Len Chatman (Memphis Slim), Blind John Davis, Champion Jack Dupree, Eleanora Fagan (Billie Holiday), Eroll Garner, Sammy Price, Roosevelt Sykes, and Fats Waller.
