The Teachers of the Conservatory - String and Wind Quartet
In this evening, the clarinet, oboe, and English horn will join forces with the string quartet. The program will include the quintet for clarinet and strings in B-flat major by Carl Maria von Weber (1786-1826), composed between 1811 and 1815. Pronounced dynamic accents, bel canto melody close to opera, and the harmonic language of early Romanticism are typical characteristics of Weber's style.
The Divertimento for oboe and string quartet op.9 by Bernhard Henrik Crusell (1775-1836) overflows with original thematic ideas and fits into the sound ideal of early Romanticism, thus approaching Carl Maria von Weber.
Oblivion is a composition by Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) written in 1984 for the film "Henri IV" by Italian director Marco Bellocchio. Originally a lyrical composition for bandoneon, piano, and bass, there are numerous adaptations of this piece, which will be heard here in its version for string quartet.
The quartet for English horn and string trio by Jean Françaix (1912-1997) was composed in 1971 and is dedicated to the English oboist Janet Craxton.
