A literary walk following in the footsteps of various characters, mostly female, embodying what the Romans called genius loci, the spirit of the place. When we say a place is "inhabited" or "haunted", that it "has a soul" or "lacks a soul", we are focusing on the genius loci, this benevolent or malevolent "genius" that is a symbol, muse, or patron: the she-wolf of the Capitol, the Pythia of Delphi, Loreley in the Rhine Valley, Parthenope in Naples, the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen. Luxembourg, not to be outdone, has its builder fairies (Mélusine), its protective saints (Saint Barbara or the Léiffrächen), and its cursed creatures (The Savage), not forgetting the melancholic young woman (Caroline Servais-Collart) watching from the first landing of the oak staircase over visitors of the Maison Servais in Mersch. Corina Ciocârlie will present these allegorical or historical figures, these geniuses of the place who, by their presence, dominate a whole city, impregnate the mental landscape of its inhabitants, and spark the imagination of creators.
