This exhibition is a true journey through time, offering a detailed insight into Luxembourgish libraries from the 16th to the 19th century. It explores documentary history from a new perspective, featuring masterpieces from the special collections of the National Library of Luxembourg.
The exhibition highlights the diversity of historical libraries, from monastic and ecclesiastical collections to private libraries of figures like Pierre Roberti (circa 1566-1636) or Pierre-Ernest de Mansfeld (1517-1604). The tour also emphasizes the influence of notable personalities such as Jean-Baptiste Halle (1748-1824) and Dominique-Constantin Munchen (1763-1818), whose efforts shaped the documentary history of the country.
Particular attention is given to printed books, often overshadowed by manuscripts, considered more spectacular.
