Regular guided tour: Jean-Pierre Beckius (1899–1946)
The work of Jean-Pierre Beckius, especially appreciated for his paintings of the Moselle region, is in fact distinguished by a great diversity of motifs and an artistic know-how going far beyond impressionist influences. On the occasion of his 125th birthday, an exhibition of 90 paintings and studies presents the different characteristic periods of the painter's creation.
The exhibition gives priority to little-known or unknown works by the artist, from his vast inheritance belonging to his family or other private collections. The selection is completed by works from the collections of the Villa Vauban. These are mainly works produced abroad, in France, Italy and the Netherlands, but also family portraits.
