Regular tour: Jean-Pierre Beckius (1899–1946)
The work of Jean-Pierre Beckius, particularly appreciated for his paintings of the Moselle region, is characterized by a great variety of motifs and a pictorial style that goes beyond the influences of Impressionism. On the occasion of his 125th birthday, an exhibition of 90 paintings and studies shows the different creative periods characteristic of the painter.
The exhibition focuses on rare or still unknown works by Beckius, from his important family estate or other private collections. The selection is completed by works from the collection of the Villa Vauban. All these works were created mainly abroad, in France, Italy and the Netherlands, and are complemented by family portraits.
