Young Hearts (LuxFilmFest)
When Alexander, 14 years old, moves into the house next to Elias's, they quickly become very close. Alexander is bold and confident, openly stating that he likes boys. As Elias begins to understand his own burgeoning feelings for this new friend, he worries about what others might think and pushes Alexander away. Will Elias realize that love is too important to be lost? A sensitive portrait of two teenagers navigating their mutual attraction, Schatterman's film tenderly and subtly explores the theme of first love. The director offers a kind and authentic view of the awakening of gay desire, set against the lush and bucolic farms of Flanders.
