Luxembourg-born archaeologist Ria Parmentier (1905-1941), together with her husband, archaeologist Joseph Hackin, born in 1886 in Boevange and future director of the Musée Guimet in Paris, conducted significant excavations in Afghanistan (Bamyan Valley) where she took remarkable photographic portraits of Afghan women. A resistant engaged in Free France, she died in 1941 with her husband during a diplomatic mission entrusted to them by General de Gaulle. Simone Beck presents this woman with an extraordinary destiny.
