The play takes place in the countryside. It's so quiet that you can't hear a sound. The kind of quiet that drives you crazy, that makes you think the earth is going to give way beneath your feet.
An old farm in a barren landscape. Two sisters, Becky and Anna, look after the few remaining sheep. The farm has long since ceased to be profitable. Their brother Ben has disappeared. Their mother, father and grandfather have died. There is no money to repair the house or care for the sick sheep. The pub has closed and there are no more neighbours. Becky and Anna continue, not out of conviction, but because there is no other alternative.
Like a ghost, a stranger appears at the farm, and suddenly something seems possible: friendship, meaningful work, perhaps solidarity. And suddenly, Ben and Grandpa are back. But no matter which way time turns: life remains a tightrope between hope and loss.
Scottish writer Simon Longman shows in his unique and bitterly comic way young people without prospects, who see that their efforts lead nowhere, but who continue - until the great storm arrives. Elise Schmit translated the text into Luxembourgish, giving this harsh reality unexpected poetic moments.
