Join us for an exceptional evening of chamber music dedicated to the life and legacy of Louise Farrenc, one of the most remarkable yet unjustly overlooked composers of the Romantic era. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of her death, we are honoring her luminous Nonet in E-flat major, Op. 38, a masterful piece that impressed audiences and established Farrenc’s reputation during her lifetime.
Complementing this work, we will perform the Nonet in F major, Op. 139 by Franz Lachner, her contemporary. Known for its melodic charm and refined textures, Lachner's composition offers a fascinating counterpoint to Farrenc's unique voice. These two nonets, written for a unique ensemble blending strings and winds, explore the rich sound possibilities and expressive dialogues characteristic of 19th-century chamber music. This concert invites you to delve into the refined elegance, dramatic contrasts, and lyrical beauty of these outstanding works.
