Two heterosexual, married chimney sweeps find themselves in situations that challenge their vision of sexuality. One has a sexual relationship with another man, without experiencing it himself as an expression of homosexual desire or infidelity. The other suddenly begins to have nighttime dreams in which he sees himself as a woman. He begins to wonder to what extent the gaze of others shapes his personality and whether there are aspects of himself that he has repressed.
