John D, a septuagenarian living in a luxury hotel on the French Riviera, is intrigued by his neighbor who reminds him of the wildest hours of the Riviera in the 60s. Back then, he was a spy in a world in full expansion and full of promises. One day, this neighbor mysteriously disappears... and John is confronted again with his demons: are his old adversaries back to wreak havoc in his idyllic world? In a richly referenced universe, the espionage film is reinvented, deployed here across two eras, presenting a life of now outdated fantasies. With constantly renewed inventiveness, Cattet and Forzani compose a swift, epileptic film where death arrogates the most beautiful of trails.
