Mamargade lives with his son in a small village in the heart of the Somali desert. He survives with odd jobs, but competition is fierce and his situation is becoming precarious. His sister, a young woman who just divorced because her husband wanted to impose polygamy on her, comes to live with them. She dreams of opening her own shop, but her journey is filled with obstacles.
In its photography and highly controlled framing, this debut film finely explores the relationships between its characters, capturing their silences, gazes, and expectations. It also tells of the socio-political situation in Somalia and the struggles for women to assert their independence.
