From Hilde, with love (LuxFilmFest)
Berlin, 1942. Hilde and Hans spend an idyllic summer together: they are in love and expecting a child. But Hans is a member of an anti-Nazi resistance movement, the Red Orchestra, and the couple is quickly arrested by the Gestapo. After giving birth in prison, Hilde must draw on the love and strength she has within her to make the most of the little time she has left with her son. Inspired by real historical events from German history, Andreas Dresen paints a poignant and painful portrait of an unlikely resistor whose fate is more closely tied to love and the resilience of the characters than to political convictions. The narrative subtly weaves between different temporalities, allowing Liv Lisa Fries to deliver a remarkable performance in the lead role.
