Nana lives on a stunning, mysterious island that many seem to leave. Surrounded by a group of women, she grows up without her mother, who went to live on the mainland due to illness. When Nana suffers from high fevers, she is sent to be treated at the foot of a volcano. There, she enters a world where dream and reality meet. "Hanami" finds its own rhythm and gives true texture to the insular character of the territory it depicts. This film explores the passage of time that defines who we are, and how our surroundings shape us. It ventures into an enigmatic, dreamy world, like a moving childhood realm with many entryways.
