The New Year is approaching, and the textile workshops in Zhili are almost deserted. The few workers who remain are struggling to get paid before leaving. From the banks of the Yangtze to the mountains of Yunnan, everyone is returning to celebrate the New Year in their hometown. For Shi Wei, it's also an opportunity to get married, just like Fang Lingping. Her husband, a former computer scientist, will have to follow her to Zhili after the ceremony. The learning is tough but does not hinder the emergence of a new generation of workers.
In this final chapter of his Youth trilogy, Wang Bing continues his unique documentation work on the daily life of young people working in Chinese textile factories, whose time is literally consumed by the workload, and whose earnings are so meager that the future is heavily clouded.
