Devastated by the disappearance of his eight-year-old daughter and a police investigation that is stagnating, Albert Bacheret decides to search for her with the few leads he has. In his quest, he receives unexpected help from Sayoko, an enigmatic Japanese psychiatrist. Together, they kidnap one of the people responsible for the "Circle", a secret society with questionable activities. However, this detainee does not quite provide the answers they were expecting. A prolific director—three of his films were released in 2024—and an eternal predator of evil—his work is imbued with this motif—Kiyoshi Kurosawa delivers a remake of his 2018 thriller by setting the action in France while retaining a connection to his country of origin, with the most enigmatic character of this new version being a Japanese psychiatrist. This stripped-down, chilling variation once again underlines Kurosawa's talent for portraying the depths of the human soul.
