Holy Electricity (LuxFilmFest)
Following the death of his father, Gonga, a taciturn teenager, begins to hang out with his cousin Bart, who is several decades older, in a junkyard on the outskirts of Tbilisi, the Georgian capital. There, they come across a suitcase full of rusty crosses, and Bart decides to turn them into luminous crucifixes to sell door-to-door. The two companions journey through the city, encountering a myriad of colorful characters. The film begins in a dump, a metaphor for the uncertain state of the two main characters, and leads them to explore the Georgian capital, seeking redemption. Their journey, punctuated by their comical attempts to sell useless luminous crosses to people with already cluttered homes, allows for a slow, sensitive mourning process, portraying two forms of masculinity that are still too rarely depicted.
