Concert-lecture by Guy Schons. Since the 17th century, the Jesuits, together with secular and ecclesiastical authorities, have ensured, according to Jesuit Father Pierre Wiltz, that our population has become a "Marian people". In this concert-lecture, Guy Schons traces the history of the veneration of Our Lady in the Octave from the 17th to the 20th century. Due to its political function, the Octave has been criticized several times. Guy Schons, born in 1950 in Luxembourg, is a freelance singer, guitarist, and cultural historian. In 1975, he founded the ensemble "Dullemajik" and has since published several LPs and CDs of folk songs and dances from Luxembourg and neighboring countries. Furthermore, G. Schons has published articles in specialized journals and several books on the cultural history of Luxembourg and Europe from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.
