From March 2025, the Musée National de la Résistance et des Droits Humains in Esch-sur-Alzette will focus on women in conflicts past and present, with the “Women in Conflict” series of historical and artistic exhibitions. The exhibition “Resistance. Repression. Deportation. - Women from France and Luxembourg at the Ravensbrück concentration camp, 1942 - 1945” will mark the start of this cycle dedicated to women. The opening will take place on March 8 at 11 a.m.
The traveling exhibition, in French and German, on display from March 8 to September 15, looks at the lives and experiences of some 7,000 women deported from France and Luxembourg to the Ravensbrück concentration camp as part of the repression for political reasons. It highlights the diversity of these women's social and national origins, and shows how resistance and persecution were shaped by traditional gender roles. The many facets of resistance, detention and survival are recounted through selected biographies.
