Less is More: Rethinking Our Technological Needs
Technologies have environmental, human, and social costs. What if we took the time to question our relationship with progress before joining the frenetic race for innovation? As part of the cycle 'Mining Bulimia: Changing Regimen', initiated in 2024 around the challenges of mining extractivism, we invite collective reflection on the role of technology in our lives. As our societies focus on technological escalation and algorithms increasingly shape our daily lives, some voices advocate for a more modest and thoughtful approach. Rethinking our technological needs requires a profound reconsideration of our usage. How can we consume less and better? Can we reconcile our desire for technology with planetary limits? With the participation of Renaud Duterme, author and geographer.
