This event will be in Luxembourgish. Serge Tonnar and Georges Urwald will present their new album "KAPOUTTY", featuring songs by Poutty Stein, the father of Luxembourgish chanson.
In addition to classics like "Déi Schnéss" or "De schéine Poli", lesser-known yet equally exciting songs will also be performed. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered in an analog manner in Amsterdam, at the Lullabye Factory. The cover graffiti was created by Raphael Gindt in Colmar-Berg, Poutty's hometown.
Serge Tonnar: vocals, guitar, Gittaleelee, bass, percussion.
Georges Urwald: piano, Hammond, Rhodes, drums, percussion, vocals.
Poutty Stein, a major influence with over two hundred songs, was inspired by the cabarets of Montmartre, Paris, and Überbrel in Munich. In 1915, he founded the theater and cabaret troupe "La Mansarde" with friends from the liberal bourgeoisie and organized cabaret evenings in collaboration with Peter Faber. In 1926, they founded the Kantatenfabrik Faberstein, renamed "Manufacture nationale de cantates" in 1931.
Poutty Stein published texts in various newspapers and his often satirical and anticlérical works caricature the bourgeois society of the Grand Duchy. He is also the author of love songs and burlesque pieces, his creative language reflects the joie de vivre of his generation. Themes of freedom, fun and free thought are omnipresent in his compositions.
