In Philadelphia, a couple is living their last hours together. Dexter and Tracy have decided to divorce. The separation takes place in a tense atmosphere. A few years have now passed. Tracy plans to remarry George Kittredge, a politician with a promising future. This social event greatly interests Sidney Kidd, who runs a newspaper. He puts his best photographer and one of his staff members on the case.
