On Saturday, April 05, 2024, the City of Luxembourg, in collaboration with “Repair Café Lëtzebuerg”, and following the success of previous editions, invites to the fifth edition of the “Repair Café @ Schluechthaus” as part of the City's global approach to climate protection. Volunteer repairers with the necessary skills to bring damaged or faulty items back to life (small appliances, toys, small furniture, etc.) will be on hand for visitors, who can each bring an item to be repaired (coffee machines to be avoided). They will then be invited to lend a hand to the repairers, who will be happy to pass on and share their know-how.
Resolutely educational, the aim of the “Repair Cafés” is to enable everyone to acquire the skills needed to restore objects in need of minor repair, in order to reduce waste, new acquisitions and, consequently, the ecological footprint. Beyond their practical dimension, the “Repair Cafés” are places where people can meet and exchange ideas. A catering service featuring Fairtrade, organic and local products is provided for volunteer repairers and visitors.
