Victor Hugo and Notre-Dame de Paris: legend of the century or artistic truth? Notre-Dame de Paris (1831) was Victor Hugo's first novel success. The characters are well-known: Esmeralda courted by three men, the archdeacon Claude Frollo, Quasimodo the one-eyed and hunchbacked bell ringer, and Captain Phoebus, the people of Paris. The digital slideshow will present social, religious, architectural, and judicial themes, press echoes, illustrations, caricatures, and the opera derived from it. The modern reception of the work will be discussed through theatrical, cinematic, television adaptations, and derivative products. The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is part of the event, thanks to painter Michel Sinner and other artists, the Grand Ducal Court and a "factor" who restored the breath to the great organ after the fire that ravaged the sanctuary in 2019.
