The Life of Galileo - Theater
Some change the world: Galileo explores the universe, validating Copernicus' heliocentric model - a risky discovery in its time. The Church, however, holds firm to the Geocentric model. Presenting his findings to the Pope, the Vatican refuses the telescope. Only a decade after Giordano Bruno's execution, Galileo recants, choosing house arrest. Secretly, he continues his research. Brecht's epic play explores tensions between science and politics. Against 'Fake News', we question the utility of inventions like the atomic bomb or AI. To a student's assertion, Galileo responds: 'Unhappy the land that needs heroes.' Directed by Oliver Vorwerk, this production is a co-production with Liechtenstein's TAK-Theater.
