An impressive system of fortifications, largely dismantled since the Treaty of London in 1867, defended Kirchberg and protected the fortified city. Engineer Vauban, who led the works during the siege in 1684, devised a project to bolster the fortress. The museum offers two-hour guided tours exploring these fortifications.
