Jozef Van Wissem: "It's like a part of my body," says Jozef Van Wissem regarding his connection to his preferred instrument, the lute. "Its complexity is what drives me because there's always something new to discover." This ability to continuously explore new terrain is evident through his extensive repertoire, including his latest album, "The Night Dwells in the Day." Over the years, he has released numerous solo albums, collaborated with Jim Jarmusch and Tilda Swinton, and contributed award-winning soundtracks to films like "Only Lovers Left Alive" and "A Prince." Trained in the 1990s in New York under Patrick O’Brien, Van Wissem has produced works that merge classical Renaissance and Baroque lute music with contemporary sounds incorporating drones, electronics, and field recordings. These unique fusions make him a distinct and acclaimed artist.
