It has been 20 years now since the Benoit Martiny Band (BMB) has been active, making it a compelling reason to celebrate! The jazz-rock band, formed in the summer of 2004 in a garage in Rameldange and the streets of Rotterdam, has performed worldwide over the past two decades—from Luxembourg to Bahrain, Hungary to Japan, and Germany to Venezuela. Their music, composed by Martiny, draws inspiration from jazz, rock, psychedelia, and artists like Frank Zappa, Charles Mingus, Jimi Hendrix, and King Crimson. Over the years, the BMB has collaborated with numerous musicians, including bass clarinettist Michel Pilz, singer Mark Lotterman, free jazz icon Itaru Oki, and sound designer Steve Kaspar.
