Philippe Vermeulen, whose real name is, was born in Paris and lived there for nearly 40 years. His first paintings of the Luxembourg capital marked the beginning of his first creations. Far from being content with his city of heart, he draws inspiration from numerous trips around the world. From the Élysée to Manhattan, from Hong Kong to the universe of Gustave Eiffel, including two Atlantic crossings, Fifax presents on canvas "his new worlds". His works predominantly feature skies, futuristic paintings from a playful imagination, metropolises revisited in poetic realism. With curiosity, Fifax redraws great cities between shadow and light with a significant part of imagination in this reality. His Luxembourg adventure began in 1996 when he discovered the Grand Duchy and its landscapes made of blast furnaces, bridges, and pointed steeples. They offer the painter a dive into an utopian world. This attachment to Luxembourg continues thanks to a nearly 30-year collaboration with the Schortgen gallery and the strong loyalty of many Luxembourg collectors.
